Ras Mohammed National Park Visitor Center Revival

The objective of this project was to renovate the existing visitor center at RMNP in order to become a vital destination and a place where visitors receive information, guidance and orientation about the special resources and biodiversity of RMNP and Egypt’s Protected Areas in general, throughout a unique and outstanding experience.

The entire building was redesigned from the inside and the outside. Walls were taken our while others were added in order to completely reconfigure the spaces. The exhibit hall has been significantly enlarged and redesigned to provide better flow, indirect low level natural lighting and visitor circulation.

A large shaded area was erected and features an intricate and unique geodesic dome in order to provide shade, increase natural ventilation and provide thermal comfort for the building's users.

Moreover, the visitor center has become a place for resting, chilling and enjoying the magnificent scenery while having a snack or refreshment during a long day of hiking, snorkeling or diving; and where the visitors can also learn about local cultures, and interact with the local community throughout different activities that can take place in and around the visitor center. The visitor center boasts, interactive and other displays on environmental awareness. The gift shop carries locally produced souvenirs; as a memory to visitors of their special journey.
